Business always gave me a sense of adventure, exploration, learning, growing and interacting with the world and people. This was like an innate knowing, but during my long years of working for others or partnering to establish businesses I’d noticed very few people had a similar enthusiasm.
I come from an extended family of middle class and all government employees and that was the norm. You would not earn much but you would be secure and serving the country had its honor and there was gradual promotion all through the career & eventually you would become a higher level bureaucrat. That form of work and business did not attract me at all just because there were too many rules and regulations and things seem to be the same year after year. I could sense that even as a child witnessing my parents, my uncles, my grandparents and the whole clan. Even when they knew something better was possible I remember their frustration because their suggestions were either not accepted or even not heard of.
In that family structure even me choosing to work in a private sector was an adventure. I could not even dream of having a business of my own. As I started working after university I was in love with business & being a part of a world that I did not know before and I was so eager to learn.
I loved every aspect of business but also witnessing people owning businesses treating their employees in a “patronizing” manner and also operating from in the form and structure that did not have much flexibility made me believe that I can never be a successful business owner. There was too much form and structure that required a different discipline to follow and I thought that I lacked what they had and also did not choose to be that. So I created my own way of working everywhere I worked I used my sense of exploration, enthusiasm and my curiosity to learn and interact with people. I was given ok because I contributed to workspace. But I knew I had boundaries and that slowly started killing my enthusiasm and eventually after working for others a long time I left it all to give myself a sabbatical and discover what was there for me to do that would be so satisfying so joyful to do as business. I knew there was something else possible but no idea what.
Even after I started doing my own business I was afraid to call it my business I treated it more like a hobby. It took me years to officiliaze the business and have a proper business title. When I did that I was over the moon happy that I finally after 45 years of age had the courage to do that. I did not tell my mom anything until it became official and when I broke her the news I saw an expression panic rising on her face and she said with fear “Oh! My God! You will go bankrupt!” I was not expecting that but reacted “is that my only option?” Yes, that was the mindset I grew with.
Gratefully back then I’ve already met Access Consciousness and the tools and started using them. So I ran “ Interesting Point of View!” with all that came up with my mom, others and my bought presumptions. That changed the energy so I could move on to create something different.
When I heard & read Simone Milasas say; “Your business is your life and your life is your business.” I knew that. Yes, it was that what I knew all along, someone just put words to it.
Only using the Joy of Business tools reading the books “The Joy Of Business” & Getting Out of Debt Joyfully” by Simone Milasas, and taking Business Done Different & Access Business and Money classes that level of enthusiasm I initially had with business decades ago returned, but this time with a knowing that everything is possible. I just needed to follow my knowing and use the tools. Now I have not only one but a variety of businesses I do joyfully, they are growing and still looking for more and asking;
“What else can I add do my life that will expand it dynamically with total ease?”
“What I have not considered possible before that is possible now?”
“Where can I be a contribution and who and what can contribute to exponentialize my life and my business?”
There is still much to explore and everyday is an adventure.
And one more question that tickles my creative juices from Simone Milasas :
“If you knew you would not fail what would you choose?”
I had a dream since very young and still do dream what would the world be like if everyone had so much joy with what they are doing.
What if way more is possible with and as business and our lives? The world is changing and so is the concept of business. Will you claim, own and acknowledge your capacities with it?
